Christmas Decor

Christmas is coming extra fast this year! With only three and a half weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we started decorating our home, a little earlier this year! It's always so much fun, when holiday decorating with a child! London loves every minute of it, and is a part of all the festivities. This year, London helped me design our Christmas mantel...the cardinals were the first, and most important part of the whole design! Everything else was centered around them! So, have a look! I'll do a whole house tour in the next few days! Happy Decorating!

London's Holiday Pet Food Drive

Today, begins my daughter's pet food drive at her elementary school. London decided to collect food, toys, treats and bedding for the homeless animals at the Bucks County S.P.C.A., where we are volunteers. We delivered a huge decorated box yesterday and about 200 flyers, to give out to all the third grade students. This morning, London went around to each of these classes and briefly explained what she hopes to accomplish! Compassion starts at home, and moves to our schools and our neighborhoods. It is shown to each other and to our pets, and homeless animals in shelters...not just at Christmas..but all year long. Compassion starts with one idea and moves on to create and inspire other ideas...big and small! Compassion starts by referring to an animal as he or she, never "it". Compassion starts with standing up for a friend, your family, an animal, your pets, and yourself. Compassion is believing that what you do, makes a difference...with every

The Phialdelphia Vigil For Puppy Doe

By now, many of you know the story of Puppy Doe.. A sweet, innocent dog, so badly abused, that she had to be euthanized to ease her suffering. Puppy Doe, whose name was Kiya, sparked a nationwide outcry for justice! She was the spark that lit an even bigger flame in our hearts...to find justice for Kiya, and for all animals. Saturday evening, my husband and my eight year old daughter and I, attended one of the many vigils for Puppy Doe. This one was here, where we live, in Philadelphia. It was a very cold night, but all were bundled up to honor this sweet girl...many people brought their dogs too! We even met a five month old Pitbull puppy named Kiya!  She was adorable and loved the pom poms on London's hat!!  It was a wonderful night, shared by many people with one goal...to bring awareness to animal abuse and to envision and fight for, an end to it. We were all brought together by one sweet, lonely soul...who in the end, and now in Heaven, feels the

Ahimsa Designs on "Tuesday's Treasures"

AHIMSA: meaning cause no injury, do no harm. Ahimsa is a multidimensional concept, inspired by the premise that all living beings have the spark of the divine spiritual energy, and that any violence has karmic consequences.     Ahimsa Designs is a conscious jewelry company designed to promote positive change while causing the least harm to our planet.    Kristen Anderson is the shop owner and designer of Ahimsa Designs. The principle of ahimsa, the avoidance of violence or doing no harm, guides every aspect of this company.     Kristen is an artist who loves to create with metal. When her first child was born, she chose to leave her career as a therapist and spend every moment with her precious baby.   She had been designing jewelry as a hobby for years, so when her daughter was three months old, Kristen officially started her jewelry business.   Her son was born two years later, and both of her children have grown up hanging out in her studio and helping her at art

Grow Old With Me

About six weeks ago, London and I were up at the Bucks County S.P.C.A, www.bcspca.org , doing our volunteer work. We usually sign up for the small dog room and the small animal room--rabbits, guinea pigs, birds. In the small dog room, sat the cutest little Chihuahua we had ever seen! We both immediately fell in love with his sweet exuberance!! And out he went for about three walks that day, and some much needed attention. I must also admit, that he looked EXACTLY like a miniature version of my sweet dog, Daegan, who I had for fourteen years...I mean exactly!                                            London (3 years old) and Daegan (10 years old) We asked at the front desk what "his story"was. We were told that Chi Chi was twelve years old and had come in a week ago, with a brother who was a few years older. The shelter did not keep his brother because he had  heart problems. So Chi Chi sat in his kennel alone, confused and starved for any kind of attention and lo
