Ahimsa Designs on "Tuesday's Treasures"

AHIMSA: meaning cause no injury, do no harm. Ahimsa is a multidimensional concept, inspired by the premise that all living beings have the spark of the divine spiritual energy, and that any violence has karmic consequences.     Ahimsa Designs is a conscious jewelry company designed to promote positive change while causing the least harm to our planet.    Kristen Anderson is the shop owner and designer of Ahimsa Designs. The principle of ahimsa, the avoidance of violence or doing no harm, guides every aspect of this company.     Kristen is an artist who loves to create with metal. When her first child was born, she chose to leave her career as a therapist and spend every moment with her precious baby.   She had been designing jewelry as a hobby for years, so when her daughter was three months old, Kristen officially started her jewelry business.   Her son was born two years later, and both of her children have grown up hanging out in her studio and helping her at art

Grow Old With Me

About six weeks ago, London and I were up at the Bucks County S.P.C.A, www.bcspca.org , doing our volunteer work. We usually sign up for the small dog room and the small animal room--rabbits, guinea pigs, birds. In the small dog room, sat the cutest little Chihuahua we had ever seen! We both immediately fell in love with his sweet exuberance!! And out he went for about three walks that day, and some much needed attention. I must also admit, that he looked EXACTLY like a miniature version of my sweet dog, Daegan, who I had for fourteen years...I mean exactly!                                            London (3 years old) and Daegan (10 years old) We asked at the front desk what "his story"was. We were told that Chi Chi was twelve years old and had come in a week ago, with a brother who was a few years older. The shelter did not keep his brother because he had  heart problems. So Chi Chi sat in his kennel alone, confused and starved for any kind of attention and lo

Her calm demeanor just radiates positivity.  And in her own sweet way, Cheryl is helping to make the world a better place for animals too.  Cheryl Baker is the artist and creator behind Zen Inspirations, New Age And Cruelty Free Living. Bless the Animals and the Children

This past Saturday, my daughter raised money to fight animal abuse, at an Arts and Crafts Festival. London sold homemade candles and mini birdhouses and gave away copies of a sweet little poster she drew last year. Most importantly, she told many people, both children and adults about her cause, Children Helping Animals In Need. And London was very passionate about where we would be donating the money she raised---The Justice For Puppy Doe Fund. I have to tell you, that the older London gets, the more in love with this child I become. She never ceases to amaze me with her compassion and her iron-clad warrior spirit!                          She will tell you with complete confidence and without hesitation, how she feels about animals and what she would do if she actually saw someone hurting an animal! I never stop her in her anger, or try to change the words she uses...she is just expressing her deep feelings and strong compassion. And honestly, we need to get angry..R

Paradisiac Beauty

Paradisiac Beauty:  A place of ideal beauty or loveliness, relating to or befitting Paradise.    I want to introduce you to a lovely women named Valerie.     Valerie has a blog called Paradisic Beauty, where she writes about the plight of abused animals all over the world. (www.paradisicbeauty.wordpress.com)    Val shows us through her written word, how we can begin to change our way of thinking about animal abuse. She even shows us products and foods that are organic and cruelty free.    Her topics are diverse. From animal testing in labs, to beautiful wolves being caught and dying in traps, to barbaric "sports" like horse wrangling. And here at home, she writes about the daily abuse that numerous pets endure. She writes about the ones that no one sees.....she is their voice! All of these horrific things and many others, go on each and every day, all over the world. And in EACH instance, the animals die a slow and horribly painful death. Val shows us real w

A Child's Message

I going to go ahead and assume, that if you are here, you are against animal cruelty. That's a very good thing...as I have told my young daughter, AND almost anyone who will listen! The video above, was made to tell the story of Puppy Doe .Her story has saddened and inspired thousands of good people from all over the world.  People who were already animal activists and animal advocates. These very devoted men, women and children are trying in there own ways, day after day, to get the message out there, that animal cruelty in NOT okay.! Not in ANY way, shape or form! Just as abuse of a child or adult is NOT okay. I don't know, but I'm so hopeful that maybe the tide is beginning to turn...a little bit. Post by post, tweet by tweet and one rescue video at a time....that indifferent person is maybe, slowly starting to notice and think..yeah, this is NOT okay! THIS makes me sad, or THIS makes me angry! That's what I hear from my eight year old daughter, daily...this

Justice For Puppy Doe

This video was produced by my daughter, London and I. It is in memory of, and to honor, Puppy Doe. Puppy Doe was a severely abused dog, found in a Massachusetts park. She had been so badly abused that the vets could not save her. Her story has gone viral and petitions have been started, and a new Bill, hopefully, will be passed to start a registry for animal abusers. This is our way of telling her story, so that she is never forgotten. Rest in peace, Puppy Doe. Many, many people are fighting for you, and others like you. Your life was not in vain. You will forever live in our hearts, and our fighting spirits!
