"Why Should People Have Pets?" By London

This week, instead of a video, we are doing a blog post written by London!  This is an example of the topics my daughter writes about at school, and why I am so proud of her!                                                                                WHY SHOULD PEOPLE HAVE PETS                                                            BY: LONDON      Have you ever wanted to adopt a pet from a shelter or buy one? Well I think everyone should have a pet. You should adopt a pet from a shelter or buy one because they can make you have a happier attitude, make you healthier and even save your life.       First of all, a pet can make you have a happier attitude. Since pets can be so fun to play with, when you do play with them they might make you feel happier, and better. So if you were throwing around a tennis ball in your yard with your dog, your dog and yourself might feel happier. Also, a pet can relieve stress. Just by stroking a dog or cat, or simply watching a fish swi

Ask London # 4

Happy Friday (the 13th) friends! This week on Ask London, we have two questions! London was asked by our friend, Lolly Reid, "Why is it important to micro-chip our pets?" And, from Uncle Andrew...."My dog stinks! What can I do?" Next week, London will delve a little deeper into the answer for her uncle. So watch for that! We all know that our pets can become lost for a number of reason. They can become startled by a noise and take off, and they are easy targets for evil people who want to steal them for horrendous reasons! It's so important to always keep an eye on them in your yard, and a tight grip on their leash when you walk them. So, yes, micro-chipping is kind of  a no- brainer. It's an easy way to keep our pets safe and hopefully prevent a lot of pain and sorrow for us, and our beloved pets. Here's is what London had to say about micro -chipping your pets!

Today Is Your Day

This past Tuesday, March 3rd, was London's 10th birthday! It was a happy and sad day for me, a mixed bag of emotions and memories. But, time does march on, and my daughter is growing into the most amazing young lady. She is warm and compassionate, daring and dramatic, funny and very sure of what she does and who she is! I'm very proud of her....my little Londoncat! So here  are two videos for this week. One is a walk down memory lane of the past ten years. I worked on this as a gift to London, and showed her on her special day. The second video is our third installment of ASK LONDON! I hope you enjoy them both.  Click on the link below to watch, "Today Is Your Day". Song by Shania Twain. Today Is Your Day

Ask London # 2

This week, the question for London comes from Amy Jo Martin, an animal advocate herself, and mommy to many fur babies!   Her question is, "How often should I give my dog a bath?"   Here's what London recommends! Be sure and post your questions by Thursday, so London can have a great answer for you on Friday! Thanks again Amy Jo!

Ask London #1

Here is the first question from our new series, Ask London! London's Aunt Diane asks, "How do I keep my new puppy, Bentley, from chewing my slippers!" Here's what London had to say!   Make sure to post your questions for next Friday! Thank you!

I Heart My Dogs

I was listening to a radio show this afternoon, while I waited for my daughter to come out of school.   I listen to it quite often, and mostly find myself in disagreement with the two male hosts. Especially when the topic has anything to do with pets or animals in general, for that matter.   Today, they were asking listeners to call in and tell them if they consider their pets to be family. If they call their pets their kids or grand kids, or if they refer to themselves as mommy or daddy to their pets. I must admit first, that whenever I hear that the topic these two radio hosts, Dominski and Doyle are going to talk about is anything pet related, my blood begins to boil! They never have anything positive to say about animals, or the people who love them. They have no tolerance for animal welfare....you can hear the disdain in their voices, and quite frankly, it pisses me off! I immediately envision letting my nine year old call them, on air, and give them a piece of her mind,

London On My Mind (Our New Series)

We are starting a new little project! Every FRIDAY, starting on February 13th, London and I will answer one of your animal related questions! London will also read a recent post from her Facebook page,(Children Helping Animals In Need) and comment on the content...as only a nine year old animal activist can! So, if you are wondering about rescuing or adopting a pet, what healthy foods to feed the Guinea Pig you just brought home, how you can be more involved in animal welfare, or even something difficult, like what to say to a child when their beloved pet dies. Please have your questions posted by the Thursday before. London is looking forward to doing her best, at answering your questions! Please post your questions in the comment section on this blog OR on London's Facebook page, Children Helping Animals In Need. London's Pet Food Drive

Welcome 2015!  Our year ended on a high note! And we hope to continue to inspire others to help fight animal abuse. My first blog post for the new year, is a recap of my daughter London's, pet food drive. It has become an annual event at her elementary school. This new year, London and I have decided to dedicate more of our time and efforts, to inspiring children to be aware and become more involved in helping our animal friends. Learning by example is key. And showing compassion and kindness with our actions AND words, will open the door to a brighter future for animals. Please help by following us here on our blog, and learning how you too, can make the world a kinder and safer place for our children and for our animals. http://www.theintell.com/video-th-grader-organizes-food-drive-for-spca/html_aa98c79b-c986-5c33-813b-8cb8b042c4da.html?channelId&channelListId&mediaId=812ba5d25cf84cc1baf2f1fa674d9707
