A Wish For Winter

How To Keep Your Pets Warm In The Winter Months   It's the very start of Autumn, and it will soon be getting cooler...hopefully. Winter weather is not too far off then. Here in Pennsylvania, we had a lot of snow last winter and it's predicted that we are going to get a lot this winter, as well. Many people love the snow, especially children. But, what about our animal friends. Do they? They have no choice really. Where they live, how we feed them, where they sleep in our homes and most importantly, whether they spend a lot of time outside or not. Snow, depends on where you and your pets live.                                       1-- Let's start with keeping you pets warm . Dog and cats do get chilly, even though they have fur. As a matter of fact, the smaller the dog, and thinner their coats are, they faster they will begin to get cold. So, small dogs definitely need to wear a coat when outside. If they go for a walk,

How Two Special Senior Pets Stole My heart                                             A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of speaking with Lisa Lunghofer, The Executive Director of The Grey Muzzle Organization. A Separate Peace

How Being A Sensitive Has Helped Me Understand Animals.                                                             PART 1 Me (at age 2)  with Honey  When I was a child I had a cocker spaniel named Honey. Honey was my only sibling for a year and a half, until my sister was born.   I loved to play with Honey and dress her in my mom's silk scarves. She was a sweet, patient and loving dog. She was also great with children and people in general.   Honey was my first experience with having a pet, and she was a treasure. I loved her very much.   Growing up,  I was usually told, "You're too sensitive!", as if it were a problem or something to be corrected and dismissed.  But, being told to change something that was a unique and ingrained part of me, was disappointing and sad.  HOW do you change your heart?   The simple answer is, you can't. And you shouldn't.   As I grew up, we always had a dog as part of our family and ev

The Importance of THE PUPPY BOWL

Every year, Animal Planet broadcasts their wonderful show called The Puppy Bowl, on Super Bowl Sunday.      But did you know, that along with spotlighting some of most adorable puppies imaginable, they also have a one hundred percent adoption rate for all these pups! Yes, one hundred percent of those puppies get adopted! This year it was 90 adoptale puppies from 48 states! I find that just so heartwarming.      They also find as many rescues from all over the country, including, this year, Florida and Texas, to get the pups from. This year they even featured a puppy, named Mango, who was rescued off the streets of Mexico by Compassion Without Borders , and taken to their other rescue in California.                                                                          Mango      They also featured a gorgeous puppy named Moonshine, who is totally deaf and sight impaired, along with another beauty named Sophie, who has three legs. What a wonderfully compassionate move

The Soul Of An Animal

How I know For Sure that Animals Have Souls.   When I look at the face of one of my beloved pets, I can see their personality as clear as day in their beautiful eyes! Much like the exquisite face of my daughter, her personality dances in her gorgeous hazel eyes.      There's a reason that they say "The eyes are the windows to the soul". When you look into another beings eyes, you can immediately tell if they are happy or sad, angry or upset, content or even, in love!      We as humans, seem to glance over this fact when it comes to animals. Well, not everyone does this. Animal lovers have the upper hand when it comes to seeing an animal's soul, that much is absolutely true.      Animals are pure of heart, mind and body, so that makes their souls uniquely beautiful and spiritual. If only everyone could see and understand this....our world would be such a happier, peaceful and loving place. This is especially true for our animal friends, but also for our chi
